Worry no more, this is the solution for your very dry, cracked, and aging hands and cuticles

I formulated my anti ageing hand cream for dry and cracked hands after being highly disappointed in all the hand creams I had used in my life! While some were nice and somewhat effective, none provided my hands the kind of protection they really needed. Even after religiously using creams and lotions day and night, my hands still felt dry and my cuticles painfully cracked and always chipping from the corners. Also, most of the hand creams and balms contain fragrance, many contain parabens and some even contain alcohol! Fragrance is allergenic and has the potential to be a major skin irritant. Parabens used in skincare are known endocrine disruptors and alcohol is a big no for skin, especially dry and cracked skin! My creamy hand balm is 100% fragrance, paraben, and alcohol/ethanol free.

Please review the following If you have been searching for the best hand cream for dry hands:

  • This heavy duty, anti aging hand cream/balm is the result of years of trial and error with dozens of ingredients used at varying concentrations. At the end only the best performing ingredients were selected and used at optimum levels. This would very effectively protect, repair, and strengthen the skin barrier, deeply moisturize, and nourish your skin. Addition of many potent antioxidants also provide free radical protection. Following is a link of a study regarding the importance of incorporating a skin barrier protection hand cream/balm: Incorporation of a Barrier Protection Hand Cream in the Management of Chronic Hand Dermatitis.
  • Your hands would feel silky smooth from the first application but with continued use this balm would transform your hands or your $ back!*. This is a perfect solution for not only to heal dry, cracked, and chapped hands and cuticles but also to prevent them. The skin of our hands need for moisture and protection is quite different from that of the rest of our body's. Our hands, especially the finger tips, come in direct contact with everything we touch and even though this touch, most of the time, is not painful, it does put a lot of stress on the skin. My hand cream very effectively guards hands from cold, dry, and windy conditions and keeps them beautiful and younger looking.
  • Also, due to the presence of many top grade, beneficial ingredients that are used at optimum levels, it is a perfect anti-aging and anti wrinkle treatment for your hands. Please check out the Amazing Ingredients page to read in detail what it can do for you.
  • This is an intensive and a very rub and water resistant hand cream /balm and unless hands and cuticles are very dry and cracked, could be used just once a day. This would last several hand washings with water; soap, however, would remove it but still your hands would be left very soft, smooth, and supple.
  • 3 in one balm! Luxuriously rich and the best treatment for aging hands, nails, and cuticles. In fact it is better than any nail & cuticle oil or cream I have ever used. Also, this balm would help to extend the life of your expensive manicures by keeping your nails and cuticles in tip-top condition.
  • My creamy hand balm also contains a hint of mica, which reflects light and instantly improves the appearance of dry, dull and scaly hands and also minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • This balm is also very effective in repairing and preventing dry and cracked heels & soles! If using on feet, please exfoliate first to achieve quicker results.
  • Last but not least, we make our products in small batches, which ensures their freshness and potency.

What is the best hand cream for dry cracked hands that would also provide anti-aging benefits?  Well following is a list of products, which I believe are a must have for young looking and pretty hands:

  1. Anti Aging Hand Cream or Balm: which contains plenty of antioxidants for free radical protection, high quality lipids to enhance skin elasticity, and collagen peptides to stimulate skin's own collagen production.
  2. Water Resistant Hand Cream or Balm: Since our hands come in contact with water many times during any given 24 hours, it is very important to apply a cream that is quite resistant to water.
  3. Skin Barrier Protection Hand Cream or Balm: that contains lanolin, shea butter, and beeswax, which will help to strengthen and protect the very crucial skin barrier.
  4. Luxury Hand Cream or Balm: featuring ingredients such as ceramides, Co Q10, and oils such as mink and  emu oils. These ingredients not only add a luxurious feel to the product but are also highly beneficial to aging and dry hands.
  5. Best Hand Cream for Dry Cracked Hands: with ingredients such as the very moisturizing and healing vitamin B5 and healing oils like tamanu and pracaxi oils.
  6. Cuticle Cream or Cuticle Oil: to provide moisture, emolliency, and protection to the delicate yet functionally and esthetically important cuticles.
  7. Nail Cream or Nail Balm: to nourish, moisturize, strengthen, and protect nails.

Now one can use several different products or just one, My amazing hand balm ! This would put an end to your quest for the best hand cream for aging hands.

Also, many people wonder which of the following three options is better:

  • Hand Balm
  • Hand Cream
  • Hand Lotion

I always suggest using a creamy hand balm over a hand cream or lotion. Our hands are constantly exposed to the brutal environmental elements such as cold & hot water, cold & dry air and also mechanical trauma on a daily basis. A carefully formulated hand balm offers protection that is way more superior to the one provided by even the best hand lotion or cream. Also most creams and lotions contain emulsifiers that could possibly cause damage to our crucially important natural skin barrier protection.

22 tips to prevent dry, scaly, and cracked hands and cuticles

  1. Always, always wear latex/rubber gloves while washing dishes; there is simply no excuse for not doing this. Even the best hand creams for dry cracked hands would fail to provide the desired results without this habbit.
  2. Try to limit washing your hands with soaps/cleansers to 2 to 3 times a day. Please apply soap only to the palm side of the hand unless the top of the hand must be soap washed as well. There is no such thing as a moisturizing soap; while some soaps/cleansers would be less drying than others, all soaps/cleansers rob the skin of beneficial lipids and thus promote dry and cracked hands and cuticles. A related study: Regular use of a hand cream can attenuate skin dryness and roughness caused by frequent hand washing: Study.
  3. Use lukewarm water and avoid hot or very cold water. Rinse very well to remove all traces of soap as soap residue can be very drying. Use a heavy duty hand cream several times a day if you happen to work in a profession that requires frequent hand washing.
  4. Say no to excessive exfoliation as this disrupts the very important skin barrier.
  5. Say no to Paraffin Wax treatments; they may provide some short term benefits but, in my experience, they did more damage in the long run.
  6. Avoid using hand gel sanitizers; most of them have a very high alcohol content, which is not only irritating to the skin but also robs it of the much needed moisture. Alcohol free hand creams and sanitizers are the best option. A study regarding skin reactions related to hand hygiene: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK144008/
  7. Please stay away from hot air dryers while using public restrooms. They not only expose you to billions of harmful germs but also dehydrate your skin. Paper towels are a much better alternative.
  8. Please avoid using hand lotion from the free lotion dispensers in the public restrooms and gymnasiums. I seriously doubt that they dispense the best lotion for dry hands.
  9. A humidifier can be a life saver for dry skin, particularly in winter when all that artificial heat makes the air extra dry. They are not expensive either; one can buy a decent one for around $30.
  10. Skin draws moisture from the underlying tissues to keep itself moisturized. Please drink plenty of water through out the day to keep your body well hydrated, which in turn will help your skin's moisture level. This is even more important if you drink coffee since it is a diuretic.
  11. Try to use only fragrance free skin products. Fragrances are major skin irritants, cause inflammation and thus promote aging. Now creams that smell like a bouquet are always tempting but fragrance free hand cream is a way better option in the long run.
  12. Try using an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin for red, inflamed, and painful cuticles. This would help clear the infection and pain should subsequently subside. Use a good quality hand and nail cream, preferably a balm for prevention.
  13. Please try not to use any hand creams & lotions containing water as they do not provide the kind of protection and emolliency needed for hands. Most hand creams and lotion have water listed as the first and thus the most abundant ingredient; hand balms (balms contain no water) are the best choice. This is particularly important if hands are going to be exposed to chilling temperatures; when applied to the skin, water in lotions and creams tends to freeze in cold weather that could very likely make the condition worse. Most skiers, climbers, and hikers are aware of this! Also most hand creams and lotions contain emulsifiers that can possibly disrupt the very important skin barrier and thus do more damage than good. The best anti aging hand cream for dry hands may very well be a creamy hand balm!
  14. When searching for the best hand balm, please look for ingredients that not only protect and moisturize skin, like lanolin, silicone, petroleum jelly, glycerin but also those that nourish skin like beneficial plant oils ( e.g. Rice Bran, Tamanu, & Pracaxi oils ) and animal derived oils ( e.g Mink & Emu oils ) & butters ( e.g. Shea Butter & Lanolin; they nourish as well as protect skin ). Antioxidants such as alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin, lycopene, vitamin E, Vitamin C, Co Q10 are a must have to protect skin from free radicals. Also, please go for the hand, nail, and cuticle treatment products which have lots of natural ingredients instead of the cheap chemicals. Here is a good study that places emphasis on regular use of a skin protecting hand cream or balm.
  15. Always apply a good quality, very water resistant hand lotion or balm after using a cuticle remover, trimmer, or pusher. Using such cuticle & nail care tools leave them vulnerable to cracks, chips, and even infections and a balm would help protect them.
  16. Please remember to moisturize nails and cuticles after using a nail polish remover. Acetone, the main ingredient in nail polish removers, is very harsh on the skin and cuticles. Always follow such harsh procedures with the best hand lotion for aging hands to adequately restore moisture balance.
  17. Consume food rich in essential fatty acids. Oral consumption of EFAs would help even the best hand lotion for dry hands to be more effective. A serving of salmon few times a week would provide a decent amount of the much need EFAs. One can also supplement with salmon, hemp, or flax seed oil capsules.
  18. Ceramides supplements derived from wheat, rice, and sweet potatoes are now readily available. They help replenish dry skin from inside out and are quite effective. Results are usually experienced after few months of consistent consumption. Using oral ceramides would also complement topical application of the best hand and nail cream.
  19. A very effective home remedy for dry hands: mix 2.5 parts of full fat yogurt with one part of coconut or olive oil and a small amount, .5 part, of honey and use it as a hand mask. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash thoroughly with  lukewarm water without using any soaps/cleansers. This would not only hydrate your skin but the lactic acid in yogurt will also gently exfoliate the top, dead layer of the skin, leaving your hands radiant, hydrated, and smooth. Follow with the best hand cream for aging hands.
  20. Deeply penetrating egg yolk and mayonnaise home remedy for hands: mix one egg yolk with one table spoon of mayonnaise and apply to hands; leave it one for 10 to 15 minutes and then simply wash it off with lukewarm water. Left over mask can be stored in refrigerator for a couple of days.
  21. Honey, oats, and cream mask: This is a luxurious, home made treat for dry hands. Mix one table spoon of cooked oats, one table spoon of full fat cream, and one teaspoon of honey; apply to hands and leave it on for as long as you want and then wash off with plain, lukewarm water. Left overs can be refrigerated for few days.
  22. Last but not least, please seek medical help for painful and/or severely cracked hands and fingers asap!
